The Vagus Nerve

The Vagus Nerve helps activate our Sympathetic Nervous System response (fight/flight) when we experience danger or anxiety. It also helps activate the Parasympathetic Nervous System response (rest/digest) when we feel safe and calm. We can do exercises to put on the Vagal Brake (switch into the rest/digest response). Breathing is one of the best ways to tone the vagus nerve and activate the vagal brake.
