Personal Growth and Whole Health
Many women experience perplexing health conditions resulting in pain, anxiety, insomnia, and other impacts. Using modern practices such as acupressure and skilled touch, I help release restrictions and stress-held tension within the whole person so that energy flows freely in order to move with greater ease.
Deanna is currently available for virtual sessions as an alternate to in-person sessions.
What to expect in a session Following a conversation about your current state of health and wellness goals, you will lie fully clothed on a massage table. Deanna uses gentle finger pressure to hold a series of points along the spine, the joints of the body or acupressure points. Insight Acupressure and Zero Balancing help balance body energy and structure with the benefits of:
Feeling of well-being
Relieving symptoms of stress
Reducing physical and emotional pain
Relieving musculoskeletal tension
Enhancing wellness and the body’s innate wisdom
Improving Quality of Life
Moving with greater ease/less effort
Zero Balancing and Insight Acupressure (formerly Soul Lightening Acupressure) provides a whole new framework for my treatment sessions and interactions with patients, impacting healing and well-being. I currently provide private wellness services integrating Occupational Therapy, Spiritual Direction, Zero Balancing and Insight Acupressure into the treatment session.
I work with persons from cradle to grave. The age and diagnosis are not as important as discovering and releasing the restrictions and tensions that cause a disruption to normal daily activities. This may include working in the mouth of a newborn who has difficulty latching during breastfeeding, integrating the brain for highly sensitive children who have difficulty navigating sensory overload, releasing scar adhesion or interrupted patterns of movement following an accident or illness, connecting the dots between various symptoms that only make sense from a Five Element Acupressure model, and resetting the body’s stress response following trauma. Clients can decide whether they wish to receive the session in silence or to talk (process) about patterns or concerns that show up as body symptoms. Deanna empowers clients by providing resources and suggested self treatment as a home program.
The session is given while the client rests on a massage table, fully clothed. The practitioner applies firm, gentle finger pressure (no needles) to specific acupressure point combinations, and encourages the client to notice what they are experiencing. Often, by acknowledging and addressing symptoms or signals that arise during a session, positive change can begin to occur.
By following this natural process the unique essence of the individual is magnified and brought into clearer focus. The client is empowered to choose the pace and depth of this exploration at all times. A full session lasts about one hour.
Normally, an acupressure session has several phases:
Relaxation: As a state of relaxation occurs, the client may become aware of issues within the body and/or consciousness.
Awareness: As the session progresses, the client may go into a deeper state of awareness, beneath surface tension, to access clarity or guidance about the issues at hand. This can happen silently or through guided dialogue with the practitioner.
Integration: Finally, integration and completion of the process occur as the session is closed with chakra balancing and grounding.
Deanna often describes her work as “spiritual direction combined with bodywork”. She was delighted to discover Process Acupressure (PA), developed by Aminah Raheem, Ph.D. as a holistic way to work with the active energy of both body and soul for healing and growth. “Process” is a working state wherein an individual deals with issues of the body, mind and spirit that are often buried in the unconscious. During a PA session an organic change often occurs as a result of creating a clearer stronger flow of energy through the whole-being. The objective of process work is for the client to come to a more conscious understanding of themselves as they engage with their inner child, ancestral patterns, parts of their personality or deep soul inquiry.
Clinical Acupressure (CA) focuses more on treating symptoms and imbalances based on Five Element Acupressure.
Deanna also collaborates with other holistic practitioners and often refers clients to other practitioners to address their specific needs. This may include yoga, acupuncture (with needles), chiropractic, massage, nutritional counseling or other services that are appropriate for your specific situation.
Deanna is available for remote sessions via phone/Zoom and a limited number of private sessions in her home (by referral only).
Key principles that guide my work are:
Body, Mind, Emotions and Spirit are interconnected and must be addressed with each person for whole being health.
Posture and balance are the building blocks to improved function. Deanna focuses on releasing the tension and restrictions that limit function.
Holistic practitioners treat the whole person, not just an injury or illness. This includes the family and caregivers.
Unless we get to the root of the problem, it will be difficult to impact recovery and healing. Treating symptoms alone often does not resolve the condition long term.
Stress management is an important key to healing and wholeness. Mindfulness, breath work and conscious awareness resets patterns.
Follow through with an individualized Home Program impacts progress. Deanna will give you tools and resources for your own self care.
Deanna does not “fix” the problem or symptom. Instead, she empowers your body’s innate wisdom to re-balance and heal. This work is about moving towards greater health and well-being.
Your health is in your hands. Daily acupressure can help restore balance to the body, mind, emotions and soul. Your follow through between sessions impacts the outcome of your recovery.
Deanna completed Zero Balancing certification in 2011 and Process Acupressure, Clinical Acupressure, and Advanced Insight Acupressure (Soul Lightening Acupressure) certification in 2017-2019. She completed over 100 general and advanced 4-day courses between both modalities. She is a faculty member for both Zero Balancing Health Association and Insight Acupressure Faculty Alliance (formerly Soul Lightening International). She currently teaches entry-level classes for both organizations. Deanna organizes classes locally, mentors students, and co-sponsors a regular ZB study group locally. She also teaches some online classes and develops self-paces online courses.
Deanna is available for remote sessions or private sessions (by referral only). Her husband Loren is also certified in Zero Balancing. Occasionally they provide dual ZB sessions in the same space for couples or family members by special request.
“The principles of Zero Balancing are the core foundation from which I view the world including the principle of interface touch. This work has a profound impact on my whole-being: body, mind, emotions and spirit.” Deanna Waggy
